As organizations digitize, they need an underlying IT approach that delivers true business agility. For service providers, evolving customer needs coupled with growing competition drive them to look beyond the niche markets that have served them so well. Success now depends on the ability to offer more than just a mix of otherwise commoditized services – be they mobile, triple play, co-location, hosting and cloud, peering, or data center connectivity services. Providers must be open to delivering new services based on market demands. That will require new business and service delivery models anchored in an underlying data center network architecture that delivers a platform for business innovation. And it will require a network that delivers the scale and performance demanded by the increasing volume and variety of data and endpoints, the reliability and security to assure an always-on business environment, and the agility needed to deploy new applications and turn up new services quickly and accurately with assured service levels.
Market spheres and network needs
Providing infrastructure that enables providers to unleash the network agility that supports business innovation, address increasing service level (SLA) demands, and cost-effectively scale for explosive growth requires understanding the business evolution of traditional markets and their value propositions.
Public, private, or hybrid clouds. Managed or unmanaged services. And “As-a-Service” offering choices from niches such as Disaster Recovery as-a-Service (DRaaS) to full-spectrum Infrastructure as-a-service (IaaS) solutions. Addressing all of these needs requires a dynamic infrastructure with elastic scalability, high availability, security, and cost-effective operation. Such an infrastructure must combine switching, routing, security, visibility, and automation solutions to create a high-performance, on-demand, always-secure foundation that intelligently connects users, data, and applications within and between clouds.
As enterprise customers look to outsource their data centers and place more workloads in the cloud, Colocation and Hosted Service Providers need to move beyond providing data center space that is finished, furnished, and functional. They need to offer cloud and managed cloud services. To efficiently expand their businesses with these new services, Colocation and Hosted service providers need to build secure, high-performance, on-demand networks.
These providers are examining ways to expand their service offerings beyond high-speed connectivity. They need very high scalability to accommodate the ever-increasing volume of network traffic on the Internet. And they need flexible networks with a variety of interface speeds, advanced management capabilities, and high levels of automation to deliver the agility, scale, and operational costs needed to remain competitive.
Regional providers fill an important connectivity gap in outlying locations, providing triple-play services and working with other major providers. As customers in these regional areas begin to demand advanced cloud and data center services, regional providers must expand their network capabilities to provide more value. They’ll need to deliver cloud services, managed cloud services, and data center connectivity.
As organizations seek to accelerate digital transformation, they increasingly find that their network infrastructure must first be transformed before the full operational and business benefits of digital transformation can be realized.READ MORE

With market definitions blurring, all providers need an infrastructure that can adapt to any type of data center service. We start with highly scalable infrastructure products that feature extensive security and ease of management. Brocade VDX switches with Brocade Data Center Fabrics fuel automated cloud data centers with their hallmark automation and agility. Brocade SLX 9850 routers support Brocade IP Fabric and deliver an extensible routing solution with industry-leading scale and performance, coupled with the agility needed to deliver services-on-demand. The Brocade MLX Series routers and the cost-effective Brocade CER 2000 Series compact routers and Brocade CES 2000 switches create an extremely resilient and feature-packed infrastructure that addresses multiple use cases and interconnects with carrier Ethernet services. Brocade Workflow Composer automates the entire network lifecycle with event-driven automation through open turnkey, customizable or DIY workflow automation options to improve provider business agility and accelerate service innovation. This infrastructure supports specific solutions that address multiple market segments.
Data Center Interconnect (DCI) — The heart of our DCI solution is the Brocade MLXe Core and Edge Router. Our MLXe routers provide data center connectivity and aggregate traffic from all the elements in the data center and between data centers. They offer extensive performance options with 10 GbE, 40 GbE, and 100 GbE ports, and the ability to scale up to 25.6 TB in a single chassis. Advanced SDN capabilities and our Hybrid Port feature help customers quickly introduce SDN into existing IP/MPLS networks. SDN enables network programmability that helps customers scale and deliver services faster and more efficiently.
Network Visibility — Brocade offers a full stack of hardware and software network visibility products. To address the exploding levels of Big Data traffic, the Brocade MLXe Packet Brokers, Brocade ICX Packet Brokers, and Brocade Virtual Packet Broker offer functionality for mobile service providers. This functionality analyzes customer usage trends and behavior, which in turn enables a better customer experience. Functions include packet brokering, security, congestion management, service experience optimization, subscriber segmentation, targeted promotions, and revenue assurance. Mobile providers use our network visibility and analytics solutions to identify and generate new revenue streams, improve operational efficiencies, and reduce subscriber churn.
Embedded Network Visibility – The Brocade SLX 9850 delivers an innovative new visibility capability through the Brocade SLX Insight Architecture which provides operators the ability to better monitor network traffic for improved troubleshooting and remediation. With this architecture, operators can deploy their own choice of network monitoring and troubleshooting tools with every device for pervasive real-time network monitoring. Embedding this dedicated visibility capability provides dynamic flow identification and intelligent pre-processing on the router to optimize the data streams needed by modern big data cloud monitoring solutions and do so without compromising the operation of the network.
Metro Ethernet — Brocade Metro Ethernet solutions support next-generation services for residential, business, axnd mobile backhaul customers. These carrier-class solutions are anchored by Brocade MLX Series routers, Brocade CER 2000 Series routers, and Brocade CES 2000 Series switches, which offer the performance, scale, rich IP/MPLS, Ethernet services, and SDN integration that you need to build automated, agile, programmable service-oriented networks.
SDN — SDN is a critical enabling technology for simplifying network operations and enabling faster service delivery. We offer scalable, infrastructure-wide SDN-enabled and SDN-ready products throughout our Brocade MLX Series router and NetIron switch families. A unique hybrid port mode lets you run OpenFlow and traditional IP/MPLS services simultaneously, without any rip-and-replace and without enabling new additional dedicated ports. Our networking portfolio supports our OpenDaylight based Brocade SDN Controller (formally known as Brocade Vyatta Controller), which is the first commercial controller without proprietary extensions or platform dependencies.
An Infrastructure for the Digital Era Successfully supporting business innovation, satisfying increasing customer expectations, and profitably addressing the data and device demands of networking in a digital world depends on the right data center network architecture.
